| Cornelia Fischer, who heads the kitchen at the fine dining restaurant of the splendid Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, is by no means a newcomer to the establishment. Having served as chef de partie here years ago, and following her recent role as head chef in the kitchens of Zur Schwane in Volkach, she now creates contemporary interpretations of classic cuisine. Each of the two tasting menus, one of which is vegetarian, comprises four to six courses and is made from excellent ingredients. One standout: the ultra-fresh carabinero, perfectly seared to a translucent finish, with wonderful roasted notes and an elegant flavour profile. The sleek and stylish interior design is especially inviting, and the service is delightfully laid back and adept – this is the domain of the ever-present and highly attentive restaurant manager, Johannes Gahberger.
